ON NARNIA:

DORA: “But, come on, in the later ones….it’s painfully obvious.”
MOM: “It is? I don’t remember that.”
DOUG: “Yeah, it was. Dawn Treader, right?”
DORA: “Yeah, it’s just a metaphor for Christianity.”

DOUG: “And what’s with that one part where he’s like ‘And then Jesus-…I mean, Aslan…’
DORA: “Seriously, an editor would’ve caught that!”
DOUG: “It had to be on purpose!”

MOM: “I’m tired of dealing with you two.”

    HA!

So true: I sat in Borders tonight and read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and I kept thinking, “And then the ghouls starting cutting off Jesus’ golden mane.”

Somewhere in a British pub in the sky, J.R.R. Tolkien is pointing and laughing at C.S. Lewis.

  2. 2 Doug Nelson 11-27-2005

The way I hear it, Tolkien actually converted C.S.
But I don’t remember where I hear it.

Or why I’m telling you that.

  3. 3 Timoni 11-27-2005

According to the biographies I read of both, Tolkien’s faith had some influence on Lewis. But Lewis came to Christ himself.

I bet Tolkien is pointing with his pipe.

  4. 4 eb 11-28-2005

He’s pointing and laughing because he knows Lord of the Rings is way better than Chronicles of Narnia and everyone will know since they’re movies now.

  5. 5 eb 11-28-2005

Oh, and you two are nerds.
