Until today, ‘Save For Web’ was an annoying option I always accidentally clicked when looking for ‘Save As.’ No more: Save For Web works on some kind of mathemagical principle I can hardly believe, let alone comprehend. It cuts JPG size down to a quarter of what “Save As” does, and mysteriously keeps the quality up at around level 8. See, I’ve been using Photoshop since the days before Layer Styles, so I’ve been manually doing that stuff all this time and wondering how web advertisers and Myspace kids kept their photos under the specified limits.
