Personal.  |

I am officially an adult, I guess.

The really fascinating part about all this is how EASY technology has made it. In the past ten minutes, I’ve switched my insurance, registered with the county, notified the DMV of my sale, and lined up the manufacturer’s notification; all without talking to a single person. Woo!

I got Okami (warning: music) today, a game where the 3d aspects are painted over in classic Japanese style. Fascinating. But now, I’m excited about Limbo.

Pros: Opening five minutes among the best scenes on Lost, even better than the Season 2 opener. The scene culminates in a fannnnntaaaastic “Oh THAT’S WHAT THIS IS” moment. New locations, new characters, and one major puzzle piece about the Others. Indications that, much like season two was a huge logical leap over season one, season three will have a totally new structure, focus, and setting.

Cons: Otherwise, just a long episode where not much happens. Ben/Henry and Juliette, in the Lost tradition, withhold so much information that you wonder why they bother even showing up and attempting to communicate. “Dharma….that was a long time ago” indeed. Heavy on character flashbacks seemingly unrelated to what we care about: Hydra Hatch, the zoology station, and Ben/Henry’s threat about the coming weeks. No answers as to the fate of Swan Hatch residents, inarguably the biggest question viewers have. Every moment Kate is onscreen is unbearably dull…further proof that the best female characters got themselves booted/shot last season.

Unexpected Bright Point: This was probably the first flashback set in twenty episodes that actually made me care about the characters again. Jack, who I once wanted to die horribly, is now among the show’s most interesting aspects.

With recent revelations (The Numbers fully explained last week), my worry is how long it’s going to take the show to make serious progress. Fans know too much about the future to comfortably wait through 15 episodes as glacially slow as the second half of this season premiere (Although, I’d hope that with three separate groups of characters [captives, sailors, Pearl Hatch], the writers have more than enough to work with).

Seriously, stop reading my blog for the next six weeks. Then, come back for twelve weeks. Okay.
