If you’ve been here long, you’ve probably noted my obsession with Justice, the French duo that puts out track after track of gritty, Black Sabbath-meets-Rapture-meets-’Thriller’ electronica.

After a few years working on amazing standalone remixes for Simian (remember “We! Are! Your friends!”?) and Franz Ferdinand (the unstoppable ‘The Fallen’ edit), they’ve released their own album, simply titled †.

The first single, ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ lead a new path away from the headbanging ‘Waters Of Nazareth,’ and came with one of the best videos I’ve seen this year:

With all this fanfare, it only seemed appropriate to put up a few Justice tracks, downloadable here:
Right-click me (mac-users, CTRL-click).

The songs:

  • † Medley, a quick overview of the whole new album. Some grit, some shine, and a little Uffie.
  • D.A.N.C.E., with singin’ kids and stingin’ synths.
  • Me Against The Music (Remix), an aggressive take on a legendarily annoying song. “Chik-i-tah” indeed, Britney.
  • Phantom Pt. 2, a good blend of the thin and fat sounds Justice employs in their new work.
  • She Wants To Move (Justice Remix), a rumbling take on N*E*R*D’s absurdly fun dance track. (Note, if you like this, check out the even better DFA mix of the song)
  • The Fallen (Justice Edit), a complete mangling of Franz Ferdinand’s lead single from You Could Have It So Much Better. I think I’ve listened to this song at least 100 times.

A special note: If you want to learn more about trashy/fun partytronica like Sebastian, Justice, Toxic Avengers, Chromeo, Simian Mobile Disco, etc…you should go read my new favorite music blog, Disco Delicious, out of Australia. I basically spent all day listening to and deleting tracks from a samplin’ spree last night, and the only ones which remained were tracks found on DD. That spells QUALITY, sir.
