doug nelson: DISENGAGE!

Over the past two years, I’ve made a number of mistakes on this blog. Some required drastic action (the deletion of family-issues discussion), some simply evoked acute embarrassment later (letting romantic interests post creepy comments on entries). Some of the rest were more subtle, and I aim to correct them here. So without further introduction:

Lessons Learned From Mistakes Made, Chronologically

• Dane Cook is not very funny.
• Don’t talk badly about your boss on the internet.
• The Slate design’s actually not that great (although I still like the CSS touches)
• Reading AOL search results does not actually constitute a spiritual awakening.
• Dexter was a much better show than I thought possible.
• Always read the post carefully.
• Joanna Newsom was without doubt one of the best artists of 2006.
• Don’t plug services you STILL haven’t tried.
• Refrain from nerding out.
• Irony + Eternal Vows = Mistake.
