Most readers know, but to fully announce: This coming Monday, October 1st, I’m going to be joining the team at Viget Labs as a Web Designer. The change means new projects, new processes, and new co-workers to soak up knowledge and energy from. It looks like I’m going to get to work on some great projects while drinking a lot of free soda.
I couldn’t be more excited, but at the same time, it’s going to mean no more Monday morning CDS meetings, no more Japanese candy, no more Ze Frank jokes, and no more debates about the synonymity of “flush” and “flesh.” Thanks to all the folks at Trinet who taught me, managed me, put up with me, and didn’t laugh when I called <br /> the “Web 2.0 linebreak” on my first day. Everything I’ve learned and improved in is thanks to the patience and support of the team members I’ve worked with, so, you know, I owe you guys.
I’d like to call you out individually and tearfully bring up fond memories, but I fear that would be extremely uncomfortable for all involved. Suffice it to say: I’ll definitely see you guys around, and I’ll be waiting to see the cool new stuff you work on (make sure it gets posted to the news on the new site!).
At 7 p.m. today, we lost a good friend. Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the weirdest and funniest cat I’ve ever known, passed away due to a sudden onset of cancer-related symptoms. We will miss how he always announced his presence with murmurs, how he would always climb up on top of the highest cabinets, and how he beat the living crap out of our other cat, Karen.
Thanks to everyone at the Hope Center for taking care of him and making him comfortable until the end. We’ll miss you, J.
Tomorrow night at midnight, we will be pouring a 40 on the curb for our dear friend, as he would have wanted.

The big day has come and gone, and it effin’ ruled thanks to all the great friends who showed up and give us well wishin’. To all: Thank you for helping make what was definitively the best day of my life thus far. Sniff.
A special thanks to Giahn Carlson, who interpreted my weird musical instructions, helped me with a last-minute wine-run, and just generally hung around to make sure I didn’t pass out or anything.
Check in on Tessa’s Flickr account later this week to see some of the Official Photos, but in the meantime, Aly did a fantastic job (and got some incredible macro shots of the location). I am supremely envious of her skillz.
Additional note: The song that seemed to make people get up and shake repeatedly was the hilarious and whip-smart Hot Chip’s “Over And Over” (awesome video), and the song that had a swear word in it that we hadn’t remembered was the Red House Painters’ “Have You Forgotten.” Appropriate.
To recap: Thanks again friends and favored ones, and we’ll see you in a week or so!
One playlists, lots o’ compromises.

It’s getting to be about that time.
Still to do:
Pick up the programs from Kinko’s
Finish putting music together (very difficult and debated)
Pack for Italy
“Rehearsal” dinner on Saturday
Note: The title of this post, of course, references this song, brought to my attention here, and spectacularly covered here (if you only click on one link today, make it this one).
